Thank you to everyone who entered the competition this year! There were some very striking and creative interpretations of the theme, but in the end, there could only be two winners…
That having been said, there was another image that deserved an honourable mention:
Gabby just edged Jasmine out because her image made everyone who saw it chuckle, which won it points for impact, but the creative thought in Jasmine’s image was appreciated.
Congratulations to Christopher and Gabby, who both take home a £50 cash prize!

After the success of the photo competition in 2024, we’re inviting people to get their cameras out again for this year’s edition.
The theme this year is:
‘Red, Green, Blue’ or ‘RGB’
So much of modern life is made up of, or dependent on, red, green and blue – the screens we spend so much time on, the sensors in our digital cameras, and indeed, photographic film for those of us who remember using it – so let’s see what you can do with RGB!
Entries can be in any genre, but must contain RGB in a recognisable way. Entrants who argue that any image is intrinsically RGB due to the way sensors render light will be disqualified on the grounds of being a clever clogs.
Entries can be something you have already shot, or better still, go out there are capture something new!
As last year, there will be two age categories: Junior (15 years old and younger) and Senior (16 years old and older).
Images will be judged on the following criteria:
- Impact
- Lighting
- Composition
We will print and display as many entries as we can for visitors to enjoy, and move to a digital display of images if we run out of space…
Winners will take home a £50 cash prize and a coveted Melbourn Fete gold medal!

Terms and Conditions of Entry
- ONE entry per person.
- Images to be submitted as high-resolution JPEGs or PNGs. If your image is of insufficient resolution to print for display, we will be in touch to obtain a high-resolution image.
- Please let us know which category you are entering – Junior or Senior.
- Entrants are requested not to include any personal information in filenames or metadata.
- Images do not have to have been taken in Melbourn.
- Judges’ decision is final.
- Images submitted for the competition will be displayed in print and/or digitally on the day of the Fete and may be used (with appropriate credit) on this website and our social media.
- Copyright will remain with the original photographer
- Melbourn Fete Committee will not sell or use submitted images for any commercial purposes.
- If your image is of a person/people, please ensure you have their permission to enter their image into a competition.
- There is no cash alternative to the cash prize because it is already cash.
